Frequently Asked Questions

We provide a personalised advisory service to prospective or existing clients, within the scope of transactions involving specific financial instruments.

This service may be requested directly by you or proposed at the initiative of your account manager, as support for investment decision-making. In all cases, the final decision always rests with the client.

The distribution of financial instruments (order reception and transmission service) does not involve any value judgement. In this context, we limit ourselves to providing information on the characteristics of financial instruments and to receiving the client’s instructions, without issuing recommendations. For this reason, this service is mainly recommended for more experienced clients.

A Consultoria para Investimento, por sua vez, assenta na emissão de recomendações de investimento por parte de um gestor de conta, assegurando que estas são personalizadas, individuais e ajustadas às circunstâncias pessoais de cada cliente.

These recommendations are supported by the experience of Banco Finantia’s professionals and by our resources for analysis and continuous market monitoring.

In addition to our Investment Advisory service, our account managers can also:

  • Receive and execute securities transaction orders exclusively upon the client’s instruction, without the need for specialised advice;
  • Provide custody of financial assets;
  • Provide information on term deposit solutions in EUR and USD.

The legislation establishes that an Independent Investment Advisory service can only be considered as such when the following conditions are met simultaneously:

  • The ability to assess a sufficiently diversified range of financial instruments available on the market
  • The provision of advice on financial instruments issued and distributed both by the financial intermediary and by third-party entities
  • The non-acceptance or receipt of any remuneration, commission or benefit paid or granted by third parties, with the exception of non-monetary benefits of a non-significant value

Non-independent advisory, such as that provided by Banco Finantia, is justified by the creation of added value for the client, reflected in the benefits of the service provided, both in terms of the quality of the support and in the full access to the support and analysis resources made available by the Bank.

The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II) introduced a set of measures aimed at ensuring that the client’s interests prevail, strengthening transparency, service quality and the mitigation of potential conflicts of interest.

This framework establishes clear rules on how we relate to our clients and how we distribute investment products and services. Among the main measures are:

  • Strengthened information duties towards clients;
  • More stringent rules on conflicts of interest;
  • More detailed criteria for order execution;
  • New market transparency rules;
  • Higher requirements regarding codes of conduct and the professional skills of employees, including knowledge and experience.

Before making any investment recommendation, your account manager carefully assesses the products and services to be proposed, taking into account your knowledge and experience, financial situation, investment objectives, needs and risk tolerance.

Any investment in financial instruments involves risks that must be duly considered:

  • The value of the invested capital may fluctuate, and it may not be possible to recover the amount initially invested, depending on the appreciation or depreciation of the assets comprising the portfolio;
  • Past performance does not guarantee future performance. In particular, foreign exchange risk, resulting from fluctuations in exchange rates between currencies, may have a negative impact on the amount recovered from the investment
  • Each financial instrument presents specific risks, which must be assessed on a case-by-case basis

For further information on products and associated risks, you may consult Banco Finantia’s Additional Information for Clients or the CMVM website

It should also be noted that Banco Finantia does not market proprietary products.

  • Ongoing support: Each client is supported by a specialised account manager, available throughout the entire process. In parallel, our market specialists regularly monitor the investment portfolio;
